Collecting your BRP

BRP is the biometric residence permit of the UK! It's a mandatory little pink card that every foreigner is required to obtain. It's equivalent to your Tier 4 visa and also your "local IC" during your time here.

Before coming to the UK, you would have already collected your passport with a vignette in it. Together with it comes a letter that has the address at which you may collect your BRP.

It is usually either at your Uni's students' services centre or a post office near your hall.

Before collecting your BRP, please remember to bring along your passport that has the vignette inside and the letter itself.

After collecting, it is important to check that all details printed on the front and back of the card are correct. If not, please report it within 9 days of receiving your card on the UKVI website. After 9 days, it would take much longer for a new card to be issued to you and you might risk having to apply for a whole new visa, which could take months.

Losing your card with also require a wait of anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks for a new card to be issued.
